Reisfeldkunst, was eher aus Inakadate bekannt ist, gibt es hier bei den vielen Reisfeldern auch. Mit verschiedenen Arten von Reis kann man je nach Vorlage ein Motiv in das Reisbett pflanzen, welche dann vom Sommer bis zur Erntezeit im Herbst zu sehen ist.

Rice field art, which is more known from Inakadate in the Aomori prefecture, can be also found here in in on the dozen riced fields. Different types of rice can be used to plant a motif in the rice bed, which can then be seen from summer to harvest time in the fall.

Nach dem ich nun schon einer Baeckerei in Yokohama arbeiten durfte, war heute das Servieren angesagt. Typisch japanisches Kueche, wie Tonkatsu, Kare, Udon oder Hambāgu (ist wie eine Frikadelle) koennen bestellt werden.

Ich konnte mir zum Schluss sogar was zu Mittag aussuchen, und meine Wahl fiel auf das Tonkatsu, paniertes Schweinefleisch, mit Kohl, Reis, Misosuppe, Sauce und eingelegten Rettich. Das naechste mal steht schon fest, war also nicht mal so schlecht.

First time being a server and right away in Japanese. As my Japanese is improving it didn't go that bad and I was able to learn more phrases as well as I can speak with the coworker and costumer.

Nach langer Zeit konnte ich wieder mit meinem eigenen Fahrrad unterwegs sein. Mein Fahrrad hatte ich schon vor ein paar Tagen wieder aufgebaut, mir hatte nur ein Luftpumpe gefehlt um los zu fahren. Diese hatte ich mir erst besorgen muessen.

Mit einer Runde um Minakami ging es hoch und runter bis zur lokalen Michinoeki, welche eine Art Rastplatz ist, die meisten mit lokalen Gemuese, Essen und Waren versehen ist. Solche Rastplaetze sind ueberall in Japan an Autobahnen und Bundesbahnen zu finden und teils recht beliebt.

Die bei uns hat neben dem Rastplatz ebenfalls ein heisses Bad fuer die Fuesse wo ich mich mit Blick auf den Tone-Fluss die Fuesse aufwaermen konnte. ;)

After almost an entire year, I could finally ride my own bike again. I had already rebuilt my bike a few days ago, the only thing I was missing was an air pump. I had to get one first.

I cycled around Minakami up and down to the local Michinoeki, which is a kind of road house that is mostly stocked with local vegetables, food and goods. Such rest areas can be found all over Japan on highways and national roads and are quite popular.

The one close by has also has a hot bath for your feet where I could warm up my feet with a view of the Tone River. ;)

Heute Ramen, gestern Ramen ... . Gesterns Ramen war nach japanischer Art, die heute war nach chinesicher Art.

Ramen today, yesterday, finally I can eat the noodle soup again. Soy based Ramen is my favourite flavour or like today Tantan Ramen.

Nur 17 Minuten bis nach Numata was verhaeltnismaessig schnell war, da nur alle halbe Stunde oder Stunde je nach Zeit der Zug kommt hatte ich genuegend Zeit eingeplant. In Numata gab es dann Ramen zu Mittag.

Only 17 minutes to Numata was quite quick, as the train only comes every half hour or hour depending on the time, I had planned enough time ahead. In Numata I had ramen for lunch. The train station self was kind of old, but the train departed and arrived on time! Nice to have this reliability.

An open air movie night, which ended up in heavy rain, too bad. After it didn’t finish raining we decided to leave and go home.

With all the noise and rain I didn’t understand much anyway, so it was okay.

Den Anlass zu dem Feuerwerk kann ich gar nicht genau sagen, es war vermutlich einer der Sommerfeste. Aber da wir jmd. aus Numata kennen, haben wir uns ein Feuerwerk mit Drohnenshow anschauen können

As a spontaneous plan we saw today a firework in Numata and for a first time a drone show, which where in between the firework. More than one hour we saw all kind of lightning and colours.

Kein schlechter Ausblick oder? Bei mir sind es noch bis zu 30 Grad warm, ich aber gehoert bei mir daheim ist es bis unter 10 Grad gerutscht.

Not a bad view, right? It's still up to 30 degrees where I live, but I've heard that it's dropped quite much below 10 degrees at back home.

By the way, the view is from a local café with yummy own made bagels in Gunma.

Der 09.09. um kurz vor 9 Uhr abends ging mein Flieger von Amsterdam nach Tokio, mit einem merhstuendigen Aufenthalt in Shanghai.

Bevor es aber los ging musste noch Kaesekuchen gegessen werden. :D

Ansonsten war der Flug recht ruhig und es alles hat soweit geklappt wie geplant . Trotzdem waren das Lange sitzen, Warten und Nichts machen anstrengend. Nachdem ich in Tokio angekommen bin, durch die Immigration und Zoll war, konnte ich endlich entspannt mich ins Auto (weitersitzen) und auf eine Dusche und Bett warten. :D Kurz vor Mitternacht Ortszeit war ich endlich da!

The 9th of September at almost 9 pm my flight departed from Amsterdam to Tokyo with a stopover in Shanghai. I actually thought about it to stay a couple days in China, but at the end I decided to just get to Japan as directly as possible.

But before heading trough check in and security my family and me had cheesecake we brought all the way. Yummy.

The flights, both, were as quite as it possible could be. The starts and meals were the highlights and between that, I tried to sleep, listened music and played tetris :D, otherwise it wasn't spectular at all. During my stay in Shanghai I tried to connect to the given wifi but it was such needlessly complicated I gave up on it.

Arriving in Tokyo I got without any problems my resident card and trough custom that I could see my wife again, finally!

Ganz schoen viel suesses. Ich war mit meiner Schwester heute in der Metro. Wie man es von der Metro kennt, gibt es Lebensmittel in uebergroesse.

Viel haben wir nicht gekauft, wir waren nur mal neugierig was es alles so gibt. Im Vergleich zu Costo dem Nordamerikanischen pendant war die Auswahl und Aufmachung hier schon traurig. Der Standort in Dortmund scheint auch in die Jahre gekommen zu sein.

Danach ging es noch kurz in die Innenstadt, ich brauchte ein Geburtstaggeschenk.

Quite many candies, right. I went to the Metro with my sister today.

We didn't buy much, we were just curious to see what was available. Compared to Costo, the North American counterpart, the selection and presentation here was quite sad. The location in Dortmund also seems to be getting on in years.

Afterwards we went into the city center for a short stop, I needed a birthday present.

Ja, tatsächlich gab es schon die ersten Aufsteller mit den bekannten Weihnachtsgebäcken. Da ich keine dieses Jahr um Weihnachten bekommen kann habe ich gleich zugegriffen.

Usually I would buy gingerbread later the year but due to I won't get it later around Christmas I just grabbed a package. It's technically still summer but you already can buy it in the grocery store.

Die beste Torte die es meines wissen gibt, und am besten schmeckt sie von der Oma. Die mir bekannte Torte ist nicht wie aus dem ursprünglichen Rezept aus Bayern mit Schockoladenbuttercreme und Schockoladenguss sondern mit Schichten aus Buttercreme, Marzipan und Sauerkirschmarmelade, und einer Zuckerglasur, viel besser ;-)

Wegen des hohen Arbeitsaufwands beim Backen und Füllen der einzelnen Schichten muss es ein besonderer Anlass da sein, zu dem wir den Kuchen essen, runde Geburtstage, Hochzeitsfeiern und Weihnachten waren einer davon. Heute war ebenfalls einer ;-)

The best cake I know of is "Prinzregententorte", and of course it tastes best from my grandma. The cake was first mentioned in the 19th century in Bavaria, and it is originally made of multiple layers of sponge mixture with again several layers of chocolate buttercream and chocolate. My grandma used to put different stuffing instead, buttercream, marzipan and sour cherry jam and a sugar icing. Just yummy! I never had the original chocolate recipe tho and there is no need to change it. 😉

Due the amount of work to bake and stuff each layer, it has to be a special occasion we eat the cake, round birthdays, wedding parties and christmas were one of those. But we haven't had the cake for a while now, I don't even remember when it was the last time for me.
